My Get-Pushed partner for this week @thistle challenged me to take a photo "of an object that makes me feel like home". That was actually perfect, as I was at my dad's place. Some years ago he moved north to the country side from St.Petersburg, and as it turns out, many objects I knew from my childhood traveled there with him. As a kid, I was fascinated by this sugar spoon that was the only sugar spoon in our house. I loved the shape, the sine, and the mystically-sounding name of the alloy it was made of: "Melchior", which sounded like something from a fairy tale. It was a delight to take a picture of it at its new home and capture all those tea memories from my childhood.
Beautiful image. These old spoons are so intricate . The silversmithing is quite amazing. My grandmother brought one from the old country. It was only used on special occasions & she called it a sugar shell. Thanks for sharing this & allowing me a stroll down memory lane
Vera i really like this and I'm so pleased you found the challenge interesting to do I had hoped it would fit in with your visit home. This is a very similar spoon to one my Mother had. Fav
@jyokota He was smirking too! :) I think it is a bigger piece of "home history" for me than for him, considering that he is still using it every day without much thinking, and I miss it seeing it only once a year :)
@jyokota I should also admit that the idea of "stealing it" crossed my mind but I resisted, as I had a suspicion that the object will lose its magic once I move it to a new place. :)
