This is also for Get Pushed 113: my Get Pushed partner Cheri @linc said - " My challenge to you is to use shadows as the focal point of your shot in a creative way." Well here's a first try... and I hope all the motorcycle enthusiasts make the connection between the title and the image!
The bike is an early seventies Suzuki 450cc roadster and was a recent gift from a friend: despite the fact that it is 40 years old, it has done only 9000 miles and ran fine when it was last started 2 years ago. I need to give it a complete overhaul before seeing if it is still in running condition. Why is it in this image? Any older style motorbike past the first flush of youth would have done... this one was handy! The iconic motorcycle of the immediate post-war years was the HRD Vincent Black Shadow and they change hands today for around 150000$. The 'Black Shadow' of the title referred to my shadow then and not the bike! You can't win all the time...
Just shows that taking photos is personal and interpreting is personal because we all bring out history to the shot. 10 people standing in front of a scene will take 10 totally different shots and 10 people viewing a shot will see it totally differently.
Thanks everyone for your comments, and your individual interpretations of this image. In fact, I intended the image to be a visual play on words - I'll explain... and I guess if I have to do that, the image failed its purpose!
