...at Saintes. This was taken yesterday so, clearly, it is not the image I would wish to have posted today... but today has been rather fraught! We were looking to move location and it seemed to be the best use of a dull rainy day. A few hours later, whilst searching our chosen resting place, the GPS sent us and our 8 metre long motor-home/RV up a series of streets and turns that got narrower and narrower... and then I had to negotiate a fenced off hole in the middle of a tight junction. Just when I thought I had made it, the very back of the vehicle caught on the last steel fence post... which promptly ripped off the whole of the offside-rear light assembly leaving me to drag it halfway up the street by the still attached wiring loom :-(( I'll draw a veil over the rest...
Back to today's photo which was my second choice yesterday: this church is very simple and rather old and shabby inside but I simply love the natural light that is cleverly directed to illuminate the figure of Jesus above the high altar.
My first impression was "this could use a paint job".. but now i think, leave it this way... this way it have something special... and for pictures its super :) did they know you would be around to shoot some pictures (the flowers in vase infront) :) overall i like this picture, even with the (i use your words) "shabby" paintwork... that makes the picture so much better...
Gosh...Your road trip sound adventurous and dangerous :). This is a lovely capture of this church especially with the light that surrounds Jesus. I rather like the well-worn, ragged look of the walls.
