Apples are my favourite fruit. I like many varieties, and I consider myself to be a bit of an apple connoisseur. I also think they're interesting subjects for still life photography because of their colour and texture, so today I did my third apple-related photo of my project so far.
I set up five apples and a black backdrop, and put on a light from a nearby source. In post-processing I converted it to black and white, and increased the darks and lights (curves) in Lightroom.
Another popular fruit to photograph is pears. I think pears are okay taste-wise, but it's not near the top of my list. They're probably my other half's favourite fruit though, so there's often pears in the fruit basket. I might do a still life of apples' odd-shaped cousins in the near future.
Semi-professional photographer based in Nottingham, England, I shoot mainly events and weddings. I'll be posting my work using my Fujis - X100S and X-Pro1.

I was gonna concur with Andy, but then thought about the crop on the side apples and it makes you think there could be more on either side. Then saw you comment saying the same thing so I think would work either way, lighting is great too
I love the perspective and the lighting. Great choice on black and white processing- it really shows off the different tones in the skin of the apples.
I think black and white is my new favorite....
Hey, why is it then that some apples make my throat and ears itch (yeah, really) and other types are hunky dory?!
