I think I've identified this bird but maybe someone can confirm.

What great tones in this image - he's such a cute little woodpecker - looks like our downies but missing the red spot of the older ones I guess.

Hairy woodpeckers are larger ~ 9 inches, have a long beak compared to the Downy. Hairy woodpecker have pure white outer tail feathers with no barring or streaks. Also, the young of the Hairy woodpecker can sport the red crown.
Downy are ~ 6, have a stubby looking beak Also, the outer most feathers of the Downy are white with black streaks or barring.
