This is the terminal flower stalk of another agave of the "century plant" species. This stalk is 20' tall and as big around as my forearm. The actual agave plant that puts out this stalk is only about 2-3 feet in diameter and 2-3 feet tall. In an earlier post on 4/7/2023 of a different century plant, I explained the significance of these amazing growths: "This is the flowering stalk of a species of agave commonly called a "Century Plant." Typical varieties only flower once, at the end of their lives. The plant will send out a branched, flowering stalk that can grow 25'-30'. This signals the impending death of the plant." Amazing!!

In school, I was a visual learner....
They grow big down in Southern Arizona. I've only seen them in the Grand Canyon and those are petite as compared to this beauty. I truly like the PoV which really gives it almost a Jack in the Beanstalk quality.
A belated welcome to 365 - enjoyed reading your bio. You sure live in a beautiful area - most of my shots are from when I walk, too. Interesting reading on the background of this plant - nicely focused.
