Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin is a Russian writer and poet. Pushkin is considered the creator of the modern Russian language.
Pushkin's great-grandfather Abram Petrovich Hannibal was a servant and pupil of Emperor Peter the Great. At the age of seven he was taken prisoner in Turkey and after some time was bought by the Russian ambassador and delivered to Moscow as a gift to Peter the Great
Hannibal was a Russian military engineer. There are two versions of Hannibal's birth - Ethiopia and now some speculate that it may have been Cameroon.
The photo of the monument to Alexander Pushkin was taken at the Pushkinskaya metro station in St. Petersburg
P.S. I tried to blog here a few years ago, but I couldn't keep up with the marathon. Now I've decided to try again. I plan to take all the photos on my smartphone.
