Survival Day by alia_801

Survival Day

26th January is a public holiday in Australia. We spent the day learning more about the culture of a local mob of Australia's first people. All the organisers and participants - musicians, dancers, speakers, were so generous with their time and knowledge, especially given how painful the day is for them.

If you want to know more about the holiday and why the date is controversial, you can read a bit more here: http://indigenousx.com.au/why-we-need-to-change-the-date-of-australia-day/
Miss 13 has joined the debate and was making all sorts of good suggestions yesterday...I suggested that she do it for a history project (they get to choose their own topic). I forgot that we didn't regularly have it "on the day" but now recall they held the public holiday on the nearest Monday or Friday 😑
