Afternoon Tea by allie912

Afternoon Tea

John and I are enjoying the last days of summer. Today we splurged on a very special tea party in a little shop tucked away in a small strip mall. I asked the young woman who owned the shop how she came to establish this business. She said a professor told her if you follow your passion, you will never work a day in your life. Good advice. I guess that is why I am still a school librarian!
We started our tea with dainty little cups of tomato basil soup, while our individual pots of tea steeped. We could choose anything in her inventory, and I selected dahjeeling. I am not a fan of flavored tea, no matter how delicious they sound, and John just said, "I'll have what she's having." The sandwiches were uniformly tasty from spicy veggie roll-ups to tarragon chicken salad, dainty open-faced cucumber sandwiches along with several more. We also had scones with clotted cream and jam, tiny little eclairs, morsels of something divinely chocolate and little bites of moist cake with a hint of almond. Needless to say we only ate half of what we were offered. The rest came home with us, along with a cheery red tea pot I couldn't resist!
....and I thought it was only the English who did afternoon tea Allison :)

Then again I think you have a soft spot for England and our more 'ciultured' habits :)

It looks delightful and I wish her all the best because it sounds like she really is loving what she is doing. Bravo to John. I can't imagine Jeff going to a place like this although he wouldn't mind me taking our granddaughter Lucy who'd probably be in heaven there!
