Day 7 and another fav day. The other couple left in the morning (no, not the reason for being a favorite day) so me and the 3 kids went off in search of some mountains and something to climb.
We went to dungeon ghyll force (or waterfalls), now, I've already mentioned the lack of appropriate footwear, so the walk up the mountain was rather treacherous but we made it to the top but once again, the low cloud slightly spoilt the views. Tricky going down which ended with one of the boys taking a flying tumble which, whilst worrying was also highly amusing watching him half run and stumble down the hill before going arse over face, arms and legs everywhere. You could tell he was ok though as he stood up and checked his iphone before checking his body for bumps and bruises...lol.
Dropped the kids off then me and Sangeeta took a long, long, drive along some very bendy and narrow roads. I'd spotted a road called Struggle Pass on the map and thought it would be worth a trip.
The road was high up in the mountains and the cloud so low, the visability was no more than 20 foot. Took this pic half way down the mountain, planned on popping the question but thought "Hmmm... Struggle Pass, better not as my girlfriend might read something into the name"...
Saw some highland cattle which appeared suddenly from the clouds which was really nice.
Then we drove along another tiny minor road across Hardknott Pass from Ambleside to Eskdale. First gear and hairpin bends for much of the journey. Shame about the low cloud as I suspect there would have been some fantastic views.
i saw this on the flashback thread. Andy, this is spectacular. frankly, i'm bewildered how this hasn't been faved more than it has... def a fave for me!
@grecican cheers mate... I really like this one too.
