Set the alarm clock at 6 AM this morning and drove 65 km up north to the town where I grew up to watch the sunrise. Frederikshavn is placed right at the coast of Kattegat, and I really love this part of Denmark.
While growing up I didn't realize what a privilege it was growing up this close to the ocean, spending lots of time near the ocean, learning to swim and learning how to sail a boat was as natural as taking a breath of fresh air.
Now I live 65 km south in an inland town, but still next to water since Aalborg is placed right at the shores of Denmarks largest fjord, Limfjorden, and only 35 km to the East the Limfjord meets Kattegat, so the salty sea is never very far away.
I couldn't imagine not living close to the ocean... it's in my blood and in my soul.
