Our neighbours have an enormous Japanese Cherry Tree standing right next to our garden, and I look forward to seing all the pink flowers every spring. Japanese Cherry or Sakura have always had a special place in my heart since I was born in Yokohama, Japan, but also because it reminds me of my grandparents, who also had a huge Japanese Cherry Tree standing in their garden.
I don't know why (maybe it's a specific variant of Japanese Cherry), but the tree in our neighbours garden is always a couple of weeks behind the other Japanese Cherry Trees regarding flowering... this means that we can still enjoy the flowers for just a bit longer... But yesterday I noticed that the petals have now started to drop, so I thought today was time to get a few shots of the flowers before they are gone... And of course I just couldn't resist turning the photo into black and white in Photoshop and playing around a bit with the settings.
