Today we are celebrating my husbands birthday, and just as tradition says, I have put up the Danish flag. Happy Birthday, My Love. I wish you a great day.
Actually there's a funny little story connected to the Danish flag, ... It's the oldest national flag in the world still in use, and it dates back to the year 1219 where it is said to have fallen from the sky on June 15 during a critical stage in the Battle of Lyndanisse (also known as the Battle of Valdemar, in Danish "Volmerslaget"). The flag is called "Dannebrog" which can be translated into "'the flag of the Danes', and it's one of the few national flags in the world bearing a name. Here in Denmark we use the flag a lot and fly it on all kinds of holidays, birthdays and family celebrations.
