Every summer there's a huge Viking Moot at Moesgaard just outside Aarhus - actually this year the moot celebrates it's 40th anniversary, so it's grown to be a huge event and every year hundreds of vikings from all over the world set up camp here for a week and show us how every day viking life might have been. I like to visit the moot - it's almost like taking a step back in time to visit my old viking ancestors :-).
Today's shot shows one of the ends of a tent in the camp... This particular type of tent vas very popular and a lot of tents in the camp are built like it... It's called an "Oseberg tent" and is named after The Oseberg ship which was a viking ship burial found at Oseberg in Vestfold, Norway, at the beginning of the 20th century. The burial probably took place in August-September 834 AD and included in the grave was also found two tents, that were later used for building reconstructions of viking tents.
