"Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to His disciples, 'Sit here while I go over there and pray.' And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and distressed. Then He said to them, 'My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.' And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, 'My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless not as I will, but as You will.'" (Matthew 26:36-39)
it was that one word, 'nevertheless', that changed everything. when He was grieved and deeply distressed knowing that pain and death were imminent, He determined that not only was obeying His Father's plan worth it, but that nevertheless I was worth the cost. that is simply overwhelming to me!
"For me it was in the garden
He prayed 'not My will but Thine'
He had no tears for His own grief
But sweat drops of blood for mine
How marvelous!
How wonderful!
And my song shall ever be
How marvelous, how wonderful
Is my Savior's love for me"
