my heart

'Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.' ~Elizabeth Stone

happy mother's day!! i received such sweet gifts from the men in my home--my eldest son gave me a 'gift certificate' for 5 acts of service without complaining (and the accompanying directive to 'use them wisely'! ha!) my youngest wrote a poem about me which was so very sweet, and characteristically clever. and my hubby got me a new 35mm prime lens--hooray!
more than anything, i'm so, so grateful to God for the gift of my boys; being their mom is the joy of my life!
They are wonderful boys and this is just gorgeous, Brett! Happy Mother's Day!

Sounds like it was a very nice Mother's Day in your house. Terrific shot with your boys. Tell me what is a 35mm Prime lens? Sounds like a fun toy.

@joannemed hi joanne!! hope you are doing great! a prime lens is a lens with a fixed focal length, as opposed to a zoom lens. one upside to a prime lens is that they are capable of having a larger aperture (my new 35mm is a 2.0).

@bcurrie Oh OK, so it's also known as a 50mm lens. My sister-in-law just got one and I have yet to play with hers. Thanks.

@joannemed well, not exactly. a prime lens can come in many different focal lengths. they have from 10.5 all the way up to 600mm (can you even imagine?!!) without the zoom mechanism they can be lighter, as well as sharper. and they can have larger apertures (like 1.4, 1.8, 2.0) where a zoom lens will likely not have an aperture larger than f/2.8. i have a 50mm 1.8, and this 35mm 2.0 and really like them both!
