180 to go!
praying for my boys as they begin this new school year for not just knowledge, but also wisdom and understanding:
"My son...make your ear attentive to wisdom,
incline your heart to understanding;
for if you cry for discernment,
lift your voice for understanding;
if you seek her as silver
and search for her as for hidden treasures;
then you will discern the fear of the Lord
and discover the knowledge of God.
for the Lord gives wisdom;
from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
guarding the paths of justice,
and He preserves the way of His godly ones.
then you will discern righteousness and justice
and equity and every good course.
for wisdom will enter your heart
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul" Proverbs 2:1-10
i loved praying over my boys this morning for wisdom and for them to 'walk worthy' this year, but it really blessed me to pieces to listen to them pray for each other! they had a great first day of 5th and 8th grades, and i'm so looking forward to what God will teach them and do in their lives this year!!
i've used this same sign for the first day since my oldest was in kindergarten. i just make a new card with the year on it each time. i love looking back at all of them. and by 'love' i mean 'cry like a baby at how the time has passed so quickly'.
they are so LUCKY that you are documenting all of these.... one day, when they look back, warm fuzzy feelings will all comback... nice capture, brett....
Wow, Brett, you are a good mama and a good friend! Your boys are blessed to have a mom who prays over them. I can think of no greater blessing than that. I use to have a friend in Arkansas that always kept a messy house, struggled with depression, etc BUT she got up and worshipped the Lord every morning (so many times just a sheer act of faith). Her kids are practically grown now and they are amazing men of God - talented musicians, gracious and kind and full of the spirit of God. You have got your priorities straight there. Your guys are handsome. :) Thanks for your prayers for me last night, too. Totally humbled and thankful for you.
Looking at this photo, I want to reach across and hug them good-bye as they go forward! You're raising such wonderful young men...it comes through in your photos and words, and, while you "cry" for the speed with which time races by, you've got everything to look forward to! Every parent would wish to be raising sons like this! And that's just an awesome "First Day" photo!
that's there's an apple in your son's hand!
