this morning my family walked in the alzheimer's association memory walk. we called ourselves 'team dot' in honor of my grandmother, dot, who has been suffering with alzheimer's for many years now. it is a devastating disease, and i pray that every year as we walk together we will find ourselves closer to a cure.
What a wonderful idea and tribute to your grandmother. My father-in-law has it also, and although it is under control for the time being, we are well aware of the devastation it bring. Also, your combo-image is nicely designed!
There's an undeniable beauty in the faces of people who selflessly love and care for others the way you all do so repeatedly! These are fabulous pictures, and the only trace of sadness I feel looking at them is that your dear grandmother should be missing the pleasure of your family's company. While I haven't had a personal connection to the devastation of alzheimers, your grandmother, Dot, will come to mind now and she'll be the focus of my prayers for a cure. Your photos are always so filled with activity, I can hardly imagine when you find the time for extras, so your note of congratulations is all-the-more appreciated! Yes, Ashley has had a near-sleepless week, but I watched her turn into a loving and doting mother overnight! Seeing that transformation was as awesome as holding my first grandbaby! (It's taken me the course of the week to thank this community for all the nice notes with that baby picture! How lovely to conclude with this note to you, such a special sister-friend!)
@Weezilou oh louise, your comment made me cry. thank you so much for your sweet words. and especially thank you for remembering my grandmother in prayer. this disease is such a thief.
and i love what you shared about watching your ashley transform into a mom. i don't know that i had ever thought about it that way before. while i'm not anywhere near ready for my boys to have children (!) the idea of seeing God make them into daddies is really exciting. it makes the pain of watching them grow up a little easier, i suppose! (: enjoy your time with your family, my friend. and give that baby a smooch for me!
A great photo Brett and again I say, it is a great opportunity for you all to particiapte in such an event. Thank you from all the residents I have learned to love as I serve them every day. One day a cure.
I think I saw your sister-in-laws(?) photo of this. Okay, I'm having a deja vu moment...or maybe a 46-year-old moment anyways. I love that you guys do this together. (:
@clarissajohal yep, my sis-in-law did post a photo of our event also! which one do you think is better? HA! i'm just teasing--we are both playfully competitive. (:
@bcurrie Okay--I can't even bring myself to vote on the Themes each week!! It's like comparing apples to oranges. They're BOTH good--haha. And unique in thier own special ways....
@clarissajohal very diplomatic! (and do NOT tell her, but her shots are almost always better than mine. i will deny it if you say i said so though! haaaa!)
this is awesome, Brett!! Love the collage and that you all do this! My mom and mother-in-law suffer from this horrible disease, too. Such a sad, sad illness :( So very hard on all of the people who love them so...
