...art imitates life

the young artist has completed his third and final installment in his series 'dogs i love'. (:
this is his acrylic of our beloved weenie dog milton, whom we were heartbroken to lose in february this year at the well-lived age of 17. the photo he referenced was taken of his older brother giving milton a squeeze when he was just a toddler. his rendition makes me weepy and smiley all at the same time.

*for those of you who aren't familiar with this artist, he's my 11 year old son! (:
what a great likeness/painting... he is quite an artist, really!!!

I love this. It is such a sweet shot, both the photograph and the painting. And I love the way you have put them side-by-side. Absolutely precious.

Yeah, he is talented. A beautiful and wonderful tribute. We had an Okie weenie dog. she lived to be 15 and was going pretty good when she got into a bad fish. She literally was there the whole time my boys were growing up. Also a life well lived. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my goodness! I have enjoyed his past installments of his "dogs" series, but this one is just incredible! I love how your son plays w/ color! He's incredible & I can't to see his work go public one day in the near future :)
