my hubby and his buddy from our local rotary club volunteered to be bell-ringers for the salvation army today. the red kettle and the sound of the bells ringing represent a small but powerful way we can reach out and give to others in need. my youngest still loves to get my change to drop into the red kettle every time we see one!
"Today in the U.S., The Salvation Army assists more than four-and-a-half million people during the Thanksgiving and Christmas time periods...Everywhere, public contributions to Salvation Army kettles enable the organization to continue its year-round efforts at helping those who would otherwise be forgotten...The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination."
