Mount Stuart by bella_ss

Mount Stuart

We went for a drive up to Mount Stuart in Townsville. It has been burnt just recently and there is still a few fires around making everything really hazy. Not great for taking photos. The grass trees (Xanthorrhoea) have all been burnt but will look better than ever very soon. This one could be about 100 years old, they are really slow growing.
Cool shot, I've never seen a grass tree! You'll have to show us again later.

@specky @sunnygreenwood They are native to Australia and just look like a big clump of grass. I love them though, they have character :)

First time I have even heard of a grass tree. It is not the most "beautiful" landscape shot but It does show things the way they are and that I think is a great perspective

There's beauty to be found in even a burnt landscape! I've never seen a grass tree, but it's lovely and I like where you've placed it! Nicely done!

The bush fires cause so much devastation but it is amazing to watch everything come back to life!! Suprising how many people haven't seen the grass trees before! Beautiful shot Sheralee:)

Ahhh, those fires are so devastating! I saw the result of them when i was in greece a few years ago and it saddened me. But there's always new life, although I hope the really old tree survives. Wonderful capture!

Interesting photo captured beautifully. Sad about the fires---we have them in Florida from time to time.
