Fantastic capture. I was watching this storm build up on the radar map it looked impressive. What a shame you didn't get any rain our lighting wasn't this dramatic but we did end up having a lovely shower heavy shower of rain. But unfortunately it's still hot again today.
wow, that is fantastic, I so want to get a lightning shot like this, fave
I am never going to manage to get shots like this from my house, my house is surrounded my trees (in neighbours yards) and that blocks the sky too much)
@carrapeta00 I went and found yours Lara and left a comment :) I used the bulb setting and closed the shutter once there was a lightning strike. It's a very hit and miss thing isn't it?
Great shot and the fact that you did not use a lightining trigger is even more impressive. I have been meaning to try this but we do not get much lighining in the Seattle, Wa area. Mostly rain, ;0(
Wow this is awesome Sheralee!! I thought the same thing - Seems like you are standing on top of the hill ;) So did you just set your camera for a long shutter speed and wait to see what you get?
So my Mum tells me (I have lots of catching up on here to do) you "woke up with Today" and won and bought a new camera!! Congrats!! :)
@cocorose Your Mum told you?! LOL and thanks :)
I set the shutter to 'bulb' waited for a strike then closed the shutter... very hit and miss but I guess it has to be. Although Michael mentions a lightning trigger, I have no idea what that is? @ferrell_photo
that is incredible. we don't get that kind of lightning much where I am but I have often tried to capture lightening strikes and it never works - so very impressed with this!

I also have a lighting shot in my album... would you like to see it?

Cool, thanks for the tip! I'll have to try it out some time, even though I hate "being in" thunder and lightning
