I know... it doesn't look very impressive but I was so thrilled to record one meteor. I saw quite a few but they were often out of shot. This is a much better shot than my last attempt to capture a meteor shower. Must view large to see that little thing :)
Meteor showers are close to my heart. My five year old daughter and the rest of the family got up in the early hours of the morning when Halley's comet came by, it was a fizzer but we did see it. Twelve years later we again ventured out in the wee hours to watch an amazing meteor shower. It was the morning of my beautiful daughter's funeral, to me it was heaven putting on a show for her arrival. Part of the poem I wrote for her...
"The stars put on a show for you this morning
They were playing in the sky
Dashing, shooting, falling...
Just waiting for your smile"
Oh Sheralee I am so sorry for your loss but glad that this means something special to you! What a beautiful sky all those twinkling stars looking down and your beautiful words too,
It's cool that you find solace in the stars, meteors and night sky. Sorry for your loss Sheralee and thanks for sharing the connection to your picture. Great catch of a meteor.
A very sad and touching story attached to this Sheralee. I am lost for words really, because i don't have the ability to express anything that would be remotely adequate. But I am so glad you captured a meteor. x
Well taken Sheralee, they continue falling to earth, most burn out, some do make it to the ground, people do search for the remnants, and they are paid well for the finds
It was a loving tribute to your daughter.
I'm so sorry for your loss Sheralee, I love your poem, it's very poignant. What a lovely way to remember your beautiful daughter, she will always be watching over you xxx
Oh, Sheralee, I am so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the heartache. This is a beautiful and touching post. Lovely poem and image. So happy you captured a meteor.
Sheralee I am so sorry for your loss....may you find the strength needed to heal. It's a beautiful shot....a fav for me....she is with you always and this is quite a tribute to her and you as a Mom. Hugs!
so beautiful and what a wonderful and touching tribute. i am at a loss for words except to say that i agree in that i believe your daughter is always with you. p.s. - love your poem. brought tears to my eyes. fav.
What a beautiful tribute! I am so sorry for you and your families loss. I can't imagine the pain you have been through. I am sure she loved the heavens putting on a welcoming ceremony for her. I am sure the stars sparkle a little more just because of her.
I adore the words you wrote for her. You brought tears to my eyes and at the same time joy to my heart with you catching a meteor. xx
I feel awful for not having read the entire back story for your photo before commenting previously. It's been 15 years and she's still with you. That's true love.
I am so sorry for your loss. What a magical and perfect send off though and a great sign that she is ok and always with you:) Beautiful poem to go with a beautiful pic. Fav for so many reasons. One (on the lighter side) being you woke up or stayed up to get this while I planned on doing the same my lazy booty stayed in bed. Sending love:)
So sorry for your loss Sheralee! I had no idea but thank you so much for sharing your story! I think it is precious that you have something like this to remember your daughter by. Your capture is absolutely stunning, just as I'm sure, your daughter was :) Now she is amongst the stars :)
I love how you think of the stars and can completely relate to it. I lost my Dad when I was 17 and have to believe that there is a better world up there with the stars - otherwise why would he have been taken so early? Whenever we lose someone close in our family, we always look for the brightest star the next night with the kids (that means they've arrived safely). Thinking of you. Xx
@trixiehiscock That is a lovely tradition you have Trixie. I truly believe life continues past the one we are living right now. Thanks for your lovely words xx
It doesn't matter how many years go by, we're always so connected to those close to our heart even after loss. Very sorry to hear of the background to your photo Sheralee. I lost my father and grandmother within 6 months of each other when I was 16. We're a very small family so it turned our world upside down. From my experiences since they left, I know they are just on a different plane of existence, I have felt them many times - we're still connected. So I don't see them 'gone' - more of a temporary passing until we meet up again.
@russianblue That is exactly how I feel Kass! Have you ever read Brian Wiess' books? I've read them all and I think he cleared up a lot of things for me.

I'm not one for mass replies but it would be rude of me not to acknowledge such beautiful messages from you all. I would not normally share anything like this but this is my third year and some of you share so many of the highs and lows of your life. I love 365ers and the wonderful support you all give xx
What a special story to share, you made me tear up, but what a lovely way to remember her
You could possibly still see some meteors now but maybe not as good as they were, I have been meaning to have another look.
