Hey, I just saw you are already on your way. I hope this message reaches you! Well, I'm not sure what either tours will show you. But what you might enjoy is a visit to the Chocolate museum (approx. 1,5 hours), a visit up to the Triangle Tower (great pictures of the Cologne skyline, right across the bridge from the Cathedral, you get to see all the locks on it, too), walk along the Rhine promenade. Restaurants in the city are expensive, but depending on what you are looking for you may want to try Peter's Brauhaus for local food (and Kölsch), it's much less expensive than the Früh am Dom (same thing, just much more touristy) and more original.
