My mum! For black and white Feb this week we are concentrating on all the different types of lighting. This is soft light, it was overcast and we were under shade cloth so the light was nice and soft. My mum is 86 and lives on her own since my dad passed away ten years ago. She does almost everything for herself, she still gardens, cleans her house and even helps in my sister's craft store. She never stops, she knits, crochets or sews while watching TV.
Fav. A wonderful portrait and a wonderful mum. My dad lived up to 96 and he lived and did everything on his own till the day he passed away. The only difference is that us children used to take it in turns to go and sleep with him at night.
Your mum is beautiful....what a lovely portrait and a fav!!! I'm happy to hear she's doing so well. My mum was the same until 98 or so, and she lived to be 102. I wish your mum many more years of good health and happiness.
Kudos to your mum for her vitality. You've captured the sparkle in her eyes and her admiration for her daughter in this portrait. Nicely done.
Neat that the lady who owned the church you were photographing inviting you in. Interactions like that make a photo shoot such a positive thing. I know I now have a special feeling about the restaurant with the LOVE lights, all because the proprietor was nice.
let me guess -she's the bubbly optimistic type (not terribly overly bubbly that's annoying). i see that in her eyes, the sparkle that the wrinkly eyelids couldn't hide. soft spoken and mild in manners, but firm in her resolve. quiet but observant. a very positive person. it's all in the eyes and that beautiful smile.
I keep coming back to look at this photo of your mom, and not just because my name is also Laura (and I am not married to Mr. Laloggie -- that is a childhood nickname). I think it's because you've captured both her lovely softness and her inner strength in this portrait.
@mrslaloggie thank you Laura! I really like the name, it is my middle name as well as my daughter's middle name. She has seen some tragedies in her life so she has to be strong to survive. Thanks for your lovely comment :)
Belatedly, a really beautiful portrait of your mum. So dignified and graceful. The light in her eyes is perfect and vibrant. I am envious of her energy. :)

So good to hear that she is still so active.

@cimes1 It sounds like you have some great genes too Carole, just like Dione. I hope we all get to take after our long-lived parent :)
Wishing your mom many more years of happiness!
