I don't think this really is what Jerry had in mind when street photography was the subject for today's One Night Stand, BUT... it is a street and I photographed it :) As you can see there weren't too many people wandering around for me to shoot. By the way, thank you so much for the great response to yesterday's reflection shot.
"Though people usually feature directly, street photography might be absent of people and can be of an object or environment where the image projects a decidedly human character in facsimile or aesthetic."
Haha! I'm trying to figure out how to do a 'street photography' shot today on the island, with our car in the shop and no chance to get in even to the tiny "town" - much less find people! I like your solution...now to figure out mine.
Charters Towers? I seem to note the old Bank of New South Wales building on the left frame. My Grandfather was manager here, and my dad Accountant at the time I lived and went to school here... The Manager's residence was on the top of the building, and I have a childhood memory from 60+ years ago of looking down from the top floor... Post Office then to the right? Fav for all the thoughts that this shot brings back...
@frankhymus Yes, you're right Frank, the Council now owns the old building on the left. For a while it was the library. The Bank of NSW (now Westpac) is across the street as you can see in this photo (built maybe 40 years ago). The Post Office is still in the same building as there was an uproar by residents when they suggested it was moved.
There are some lovely old buildings there. I'm with you, I was very tempted to post a street shot without people in it. But I had one that was workable so I used that.
rest assured it is street photography. :-)
