Coober Pedy underground church by bella_ss

Coober Pedy underground church

From Adelaide we drove for about 8 hours to Coober Pedy which is an opal mining town. Lots of houses and motels are underground but some are just regular above ground also. We stayed in an underground motel which was quite amazing. It was a two bedroom unit. When we arrived it was 40C outside but to walk inside you would think the air-conditioning was on. Just a couple of days later and it was quite cool outside but warm inside. It seems to keep the perfect temperature. They must really save on heating and cooling plus the walls are fantastic texture, either painted or sealed... great as photographic backgrounds.
It sounds like a facinating visit. How nice to have natural air conditioning and heating! We should all learn from it. The colour of these walls is so rich and vibrant too. Quite amazing.
