Wedgie with his lunch

The boys and I went for a drive out to the Fletcher River (currently a stream) for something to do. On the way we came across this beautiful Wedge-Tailed Eagle. I pulled over and slowly moved closer and closer until he finally flew to the trees. I cursed myself for not grabbing a longer lens to bring with me. This is heavily cropped.
Great capture - you of the bird that is

Always the way - the lens you need safely tucked away at home! A great image just the same.

Aren't they magnificent. We saw one once eating road kill and as we got closer to him he just stood his ground and spread his wings slightly enough to say 'It's mine back off'

@pcoulson I wish I could get close actually!

@onewing Wow, I have never been able to get very close at all. Something similar happened to my daughter though, she walked past one while pushing the pram and got quite close to it.
