"Pain in my heart finally running me out of my life
Some things do nothing but try."
-Jason Molina
The previous self
that is no longer inside.
Spirit
out there
somewhere.
That energy
perhaps fused
into a flower
which has since bloomed
and set its seeds
into the
wind.
My energy
exists in nature
and I can visit
me
each spring
when I
bloom.

Great bird come down and give me back my old life
And I’m sure I’m nothing in it
All those years had to darken me on every single side
Til every part of me was a place to hide
Some things never get better
Some things never try
Pain in my heart finally running me out of my life
Some things do nothing but try.
interpretation:
he has changed. he knows it. he was a better (happier) person a few years ago. he misses that old him. now he wallows in his new self that he cannot change. he has given into the bottle. (note: jason molina died of alcoholism at age 39. That takes a lot of drinking to do that.)
