windswept

okay, questions for @daneau and @roseolivia ... i attempted to do the selective blur technique and I can't quite get it right. Any pointers would be much appreciated. My goal is to leave the doorway intact but blur the buildings into a dreamy haze. Anyone who has any helpful techniques, please divulge!

@roseolivia, @daneau Any pointers on how to make this look not so darn cheesy?

Pretty cool! If it was my shot and @daneau may have a complete different opinion I would probably do the following. Change sky colour to give more contrast. Duplicate layer, very heavy horizontal motion blur and add inverted mask then paint on blur where you want it with large soft brush and adjust opacity to get the result you want. with lasso tool would have a rough selection of the lady in the door, feather heavily and through curves would brighten her up to have a stronger focal point and possibly sharpen it a bit to contrast with the blur. Would finalise with curves (RGB and individual channels) to set final colour tones. Does this help?

@roseolivia Thanx for your helpful feedback. I use Gimp, which has all the same functions. I'll sit down this weekend with your pointers and try out your tips. Much appreciated!!!

@blueberry1222 @roseolivia Pretty cool Shoot Krista! Rachel, this is exactly how I do it. I play a lot with contrast and color until the motion blur give me what I'm looking for. Most of the time, I apply motion blur over motion blur to have it more diffuse. Hope it help :)

I like it how it is, but it's always fun to keep experimenting.

I do like both pictures. I have PSE 11 but still have many things to learn about how to use it.
