One of my favourite moments of mum's recent 80th birthday party was listening to her friends talk about her and their friendships... how wonderful. I loved that they were not content to just sit back - but happy to speak of their fond memories.
Pat,the woman with the flaming red hair was mum's school friend and bridesmaid. They also went to teacher college together in Christchurch - and judging by the photos from back then... had a ball! Mary in the middle also went to teachers college with mum. For the past ten years the college buddies who live around NZ get together from around the country once or twice a year. Thelma on the right - has been friends since they were 20 something! They still hang out regularly over lunch and movies.
