Last night I did a 6 hour volunteer gig at Ronald McDonald House. I was part of an awesome group of people who made an amazing dinner for around 100 people who are staying at RMH whilst them or their loved ones are receiving treatment at Starship Children's Hospital. These families are from out of town and need somewhere to stay so they can be in close proximity.
My friend Jo organised the evening. Their 4 year old son died of cancer 3 years ago. This is the second year she's run this event. They stayed at RMH during Tiago's treatments and it's her way to give back and support families who's journey she has also been on.
All the food was donated, and the meal was amazing. Sensational salads, roast veggies, bbq chicken and rosemary roast lamb, followed by delicious desserts. Wholesome and like i said.. delicious.
Many of the other helpers have also been through similar journeys with their kids. I felt privileged to contribute my time to this event. Such a satisfying way to spend Friday evening
