The Kindness of Strangers

Cookie is off to the Science Museum today. He goes to the front door without his coat on and I tell him that he needs to put it on as he'll probably be taking the train. He grumbles but puts it on anyway and starts the 20 minute walk to school.

I meanwhile take Little L to his school and then drive to the station to get to the day job. I step out of the car and one minute later the skies open up. A three minute walk for cover and I am soaked to the skin. On the other side of the shelter I still have another three minute walk to the station. It's still torrential out there. I see a guy standing just inside the shelter with a huge golf umbrella. I jokingly try to get under it. He looks shocked. "Ah, I'm only joking", I tell him but he insists that I take cover as I admit that the "umbrella I'm holding is shit" and that it will break in this wind. Luckily he's walking to the train station as well and save me from storm Doris. Result!

So a big thank you to Stanley, a stranger, who kindly shared his golf umbrella with me. I was already soaked from the deluge but it was much appreciated.

Meanwhile, Cookie got caught in the rain and was very thankful for the coat that I insisted he wear. Mums always know best.
With the state of the world at the moment it would be very easy to give up on the human race......... but some good people are always there to give us hope. :)
