Blue jays - What are they doing on my roof

I was outside on my neighbour's property taking pictures of her lovely flowers when I heard a funny noise. I looked around but didn't see anything, heard it again, I looked up to the second storey of our house and saw three blue jays. one flew away. when you enlarge the picture you see one standing on one leg and the other one is the air.
