Hans took a snapshot of me, unexpectedly, and said here is your picture for the day and wanted me to call it hard at work. well, as you can see our entrance to our deck needed some TLC as the sun did a lot of damage. since we have the sunroof over our deck it's just the railing and the stairs which need re-painting. it looked good 26 years. everthing was made of cedar with a clear coat of varnish, but because the sun has been beating down on it, we decided to use paint to cover it up a bit. we picked a floor paint in a matching color and will cover the middle of the stairs later with a darker brown carpet runner. when looking to the left of the picture you see a door to the crawlspace beneath the deck. notice how faded the door looks compared to the freshly painted wooden mailbox above it. yes I have my work cut out for me while hubby does some more weeding in our garden and some preparations for the paving people. we're finally getting our driveway done.
I`m told that ( Red) Cedar don`t need paint . It becomes nice grey when it get`s old. Looks a lot of hard work . For that I love bricks and stones .
Not a great job , it`s a big job . .
@pyrrhula I agree with you Ferry. our house is totally brick..no painting, no fuss. the cedar is white cedar and eventually it will turn grey as well but in the meantime it is peeling off and starts to look bad. I don't want to paint over it..so we just have to wait till it turns grey. thanks, Ferry, for a nice comment.
Hans did a good job capturing you! Nice shot! Love how you can see the difference. I was thinking of asking why you were doing this and not Hans until I continued reading on. You are doing an excellent job on sprucing it up, Bruni! Keep up the good work! Now sneak a shot of Hans weeding!
