When my husband brought the Mandeville plant indoors, he also brought two other plants in with it. one day when I gave them some water, I noticed that all of a sudden the one plant sprouted very tiny purple flowers. I never noticed any when the plant was outdoors all summer. the flowers are maybe 8 mm small.
