No both my cats live in a very roomy cottage. If they want to go outside they have a big enclosed area. I prefer this to them being killed on the road or severely injured by farm equipment, or poisoned. They both live happy lives with lots of birds in the garden and plenty of wildlife to look at (instead of killing them). When we lived in Australia (WA) they had a cat law where the cats were not allowed off the property, as they killed off the wildlife (protected indigenous) so our cats are used to being indoors and in a cage outdoors.
