A busy day on the Grand Union Canal at Whilton Locks near Northampton.
Dropped my grandson,Daniel, off at a football tournament in Daventry.Stopped at Whilton Locks on the way home(it had stopped raining)and was lucky, there was a lot of action on the canal.I shall post shots of the canal this week as more rain is forecast!
Daniel's team won the tournament,so a good day all round!Unfortunately, when I picked him up,it was raining again!!!
Nice colours and perspective. Are these boats rented? Can you sleep in them? I have heard of canal holidays in England, is this how you do them? It looks like it would be very nice.
@lynnb .Yes,Lynn they can be rented for holidays....lovely if you've got good weather.Don't think I'd want to do it in the weather we're having this year. Some people live in them permanently, they can be quite lovely inside, very cosy.
Its seems to be either raining everywhere or someone is getting the Heat turned on them! Crazy Weather all over the world!! At least you captured a sunny and fun looking Day! Enjoy seeing your part of the world through your lens! Love it!
INstant fav here because I LOVE canal boats. My aunt and uncle let us use their barge for a week and it was heaven going along at the slow pace, putting in whenever you wanted for the night. mooring up to pubs, taking walks in the country side. we were on this canal and probably did these locks too. Thanks so much for posting this and bringing back some lovely memories.
Wonderful shot of barges on the canal there is something about barges used to love watching them go along the canal when I was a young lad living in Birmingham.
I love canal scenes, lucky the boats are able to move again, at the start of the year we spoke to someone who couldn't get along the canal to where he was supposed to be moored as there wasn't enough water!
