Whilst watering my plant tubs ,in the garden, yesterday evening, this plane came towards me,flying low and slow.I stood watching it,then thought, why are you standing here,go grab the camera!By the time I'd fetched my camera it had just passed by,but I did get 4 shots of it.this is the best shot,I managed to get.It has been heavily cropped.thought at first,it was a Nimrod, but checking online, the wings are not at the back,as in this shot.Any military plane buffs,I'd love to know what it is.Many thanks for all your views, comments and Favs, always much appreciated.

Interesting spot. I'm not any kind of an expert, but could it have been an Avro Vulcan? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Vulcan

@cobaltfish .No,the wings weren't as big as the Vulcan, and it wasn't as noisy.

Very cool shot. I know nothing about military planes--sorry, no help here.

I have scrutinised your picture and it is the only Avro Vulcan that is air-worthy today and is used for air shows. It is this specific one in the links below.
