Ladybugs are supposed to be lucky and for me today, they were! I was doing some research on ladybugs after getting another ladybug pic today. I found a page that showed adult ladybugs and their larva. I got really excited because I've been taking pics of the blue and orange spotted larva for a week or so. I had already taken some today. I had no idea what they were, until I saw the pic on the ladybug site. I went out to take a few more pics before it started raining and I found the ladybug called coccinella septempunctata or Seven Spotted! It matched my larva!!! :0)
Congratulations, Carolyn! This is the sort of thing I love coming across myself (you may have noticed). Who would have guessed they'd have those spiky things on their backs? They grow such smooth shells in their adult form. Well done!
Ditto - to all the above comments Carolyn - what an amazing find. I'm with Robin - had no idea they began life as prickly little things. Congratulations on your photo and your find.
Fabulous combination. It's amazing how something so spiky and a tad ugly and turn into something so cute. Thanks for sharing the pics and the information nicely done.
Wow! That baby looks quite armour-plated and fearsome compared with it's gentle mom! Don't you just love the ever-so-perfect love heart on the back of her neck? :-)
Oh, I see yesterday's pic made the PP! Congrats!
