This is the first stranger pic I have posted. I spent a wonderful day with family at the Greenway. While the others were fishing, I wandered down the trail with my camera. This fellow was fly fishing, which is something I've never seen anyone do here. I knew he couldn't see me, sooo I snapped a couple of pics. Then I heard my oldest granddaughter, Emma, calling my name. She wanted to walk with me. I shushed her, but not before she asked a little loudly if I was taking pics of the man. LOL!!! I quickly snapped this one, before he went under the bridge.
I thought that was that and we walked on down the trail. Emma whispered there's the man and yes, there he was coming up the trail towards us. I thought I had been caught, but he just wanted to talk about fishing and pointed out a big snapping turtle. In my head, I was hoping really hard that Emma didn't mention me taking pics of him and she didn't! He wished us a nice day and went on his way. Whew!!! That was close and I must say really fun! :0)
Thank you for the wonderful comments and faves on my No Fear dragonfly pic!!! :0)
That makes me smile Carolyn. The photo is a great, relaxed, action shot. I'm laughing about Emma nearly dropping you in it. Kids say very honest things which can really make we adults squirm. I can hear your heart beating as the fisherman followed you down the path. Imagine him just wanting to be helpful. LOL
@murnane It was so funny, after the fact! The man was really nice and I couldn't help but feel a little guilty that he was probably going to be my pic for the day. :0)
He probably realized that you were taking a pic, and really didn't mind, and may have been flattered. Only the rich and famous hate to be caught on film in situations like that. Great DOF. Nice candid capture : )
wonderful shot and a great story to go with it. I can't get myself to take pictures of strangers. Don't have the guts. Love fly fishing. We lived in Montana for a few years and it is relaxing to just watch people cast..... :)
I liked the story and the picture is interesting. You did well to capture the line as it swung in the air. Pity about the rubbish in the water, why do people do that? Anyhow, I'm sure he'd like a copy of the shot as it looks like he's definitely in his element. Great!
@sabresun Thank you Matt! We had some major flooding last year. Nashville, Tennessee was hit really hard. You may have seen it on the world news. There is still trash in some of the rivers and lakes from the flooding. This particular river got really high. :0)
Ha! Kids! You can always count on them to embarrass you! :-)
You know, I'm sure he wouldn't have been offended and probably would have loved a copy of this pic doing the thing he obviously loves! Just last night, I took a bunch of pics of partygoers dancing salsa in the living room of someone who wasn't even there! This morn, I sent them all to a guy who has everyone's email asking him to pass them on! I'll let you know how that went....
Congratulations on your first stranger shot! I took one the other night in Sydney that I'll post in a couple of days. It was my first, too, and my friend nearly gave the game away by asking very loudly what I was doing...
