I'm uploading a little early today. It's my youngest grandson's first birthday today and I need to get ready for his celebration.:0)
I had my camera, but was doing a few chores before my walk. I saw this Red-spotted Purple butterfly and got a few shots before it flew away. It's not the background I would have chosen, but I haven't figured out how to get them to land on pretty backgrounds only! LOL!
The name threw me off a little, but the pic in my book looks like this one. The wings have a bluish to blue-green irridescence. The red spots are on the underside. I didn't get a pic of the other side. :0)
Thank you so much for your comments and faves on yesterday's The Great Sunroof Caper pic!!! :0)
I think the background is perfect Carolyn - the green really accentuates that awesome blue in the wings. You guys have awfully pretty butterflies over there.
@murnane Thank you! Marg, I never knew how many wonderful butterflies we had before I started this project. I really SEE so many things that I took for granted before! :0)
Beautiful shot and colours , beautiful blue ! We have a Ulysses Butterfly in our northern tropical rainforests that also have a magnificent blue colour!
Beautiful Butterfly!! Wonderful shot! I still have yet to see one around here yet this summer, which is very strange considering all of my butterfly friendly flowers. Hmm. I just don't know. So I am really enjoying seeing yours! :0)
Happy Birthday to your youngest Grandson!! Aww 1!
What a beautiful butterfly. and if we every get some some sun here we may get some of these beauties too..
And a big happy 1st birthday to your grandson I hope he has an awesome day.
I especially love the holey leaves in this pic!
