My family has really been supportive of my 365 project. They are always keeping an eye out for cool insects and spiders I can use.
My mom called late this afternoon and told me there was a big walkingstick on her roses. She lives about a mile from me and she said she would watch it until I got there. LOL!
I haven't seen one in a very long time and never one this big! It has to be a Giant Walkingstick. If it's not, I don't want to see one! This one was about five inches long.
It changes colors to match the environment. It was more red when it was on her roses. I brought my own grass stalk to take its pic on. I knew her roses were in the shade this time of day. :0)
Thank you so much for your comments, views, and faves!!! :0)
@chard LOL! You should have heard her when I called her back and told her they eat roses. I had put him back on the roses. I'm guessing that he is residing in the pasture now. :0)
@5unflow3r Well, they do snicker at me for taking so many shots of one thing. I can't help it. If something stays put, I try to get as many as I can. LOL! :0)
Great find and composition. Good thinking to place the walking stick on a grass stalk. My parents used to have these at their retirement home. The walking sticks were large like this and scared me by dropping onto me.
Thank you for you kind words, Like to be back and watch all those beautiful pic. of you and the others. And of course the lovely comments of my 365 frinds. Great find and capture.
Nice to have family spotters for you; mine do that, too, although one son lives 3-1/2 hours away and is always telling me about the great shot I would have got if I'd been there. Haven't seen a stick insect for ages around here, so nice to see this great shot of yours.
