A honey bee gathering pollen on the goldenrod. I didn't mean to do a goldenrod series, but it seems like I am. :0)
I found some cool facts, when I researched honey bees. I thought I would share one I found interesting. Honeybees are highly organized with various bees having specific jobs during their lifetime. Some examples of these jobs are nurses, guards, housekeepers, construction workers, royal attendants, undertakers, and foragers.
awesome capture, caroline! great info too. we were at a nature meeting tonight and learned that a praying mantis will sit by a bee hive and snatch and eat the bees as they go in and out of the hive.
"Bee movie" is on TV in my town this week - it's such a cute story. Love your photo - these guys sure work hard for the benefit of the entire hive... if only we humans could do the same!
This is a fantastic shot...... love the huge eyes... and all his hairs.... so much detail. I also enjoyed the information.... I had no idea there were so many varied roles..... a fave :)
This is a fantastic photo! I love all the yellow. I wonder which type of bee this is? Royal attendant sounds like a fun bee job! Maybe this is Pippa? :-)
the big eye........looking at me!
