Pens and pencils

Tried a macro, not entirely happy with the focus or the shadows but I like the colours.

I like your aspect, the focus on the pencils is spot on, great colours and idea.

@dianeburns thanks for the comment. I forgot that the pens were a different height and more spread out. I knew they wouldn't all be in focus but thought I'd get more. It actually looks better on my phone than it did on computer :)

Interesting pov though. You really needed to shut that aperture down a long way (exif says f5.6), maybe f16 or maybe even more, but the shutter speed would have been so slow you would have definitely needed a tripod.

Oh, and would have shot three cups of pens/pencils rather than two. Odds always work a bit better :-)

@snaggy Thanks for the technical and artistic feedback. I'll try changing the aperture as you suggested and see how much I can improve it without a tripod. I initially only had one cup but it looked lonely - my collection for this one didn't stretch to 3 but I'll bear that in mind for future compositions :)
