One of the greatest Nature photographers, Eliot, Porter, has for decades been an influence and inspiration for me as I have pursued by own vision of Nature photography. He was one of the earliest, and, in my opinion, the most influential, photographer to work in color as a photographic art medium. One of his signature compositional achievements was the finely detailed close ups of Nature, such as the ordinarily overlooked little details of a forest floor. Here, in one of my photographs taken at Magnolia Gardens, the Autumn and Winter leaves contrast with the fresh, green plant growth in this recent composition. Thanks to Porter, I not only look up at the clouds and sky when I have my camera, but also the wealth of details on the forest floor. I urge you to check out his work if you haven't already.

I have not heard of him. Will check him out. Love your photo and the reason behind it as well, John. Love all the details you captured along with all the colors. Very beautiful. FAV
