Pentewen Village

....looking a little like an island here, however this body of water is all that remains of the once very busy china clay harbour. Narrow guage trains would run from St Austell with many trailers full of the 'White Gold' as it was known locally ! Sadly the river which flows down into the sea here (known as the White River) carried so much residue from the quarrying process that the river and harbour entrance silted up and has been allowed to decay and fall into ruin. @neil_ge Yes it so does...a large part of Cornwall looks that way.....it is lovely to live here
