Another landmark has gone....a Victorian pub which later served as The Liberal Club and a night club is being demolished.
A workman watches on, his passivity contrasting with the destructive power of the machinery.
In time something new will be built on this land, who knows when! The plot of land across the road has been left as rubble for a couple of years, and I wonder which will be built on first?
Behind the Youth Centre is visible. If housing is built on this brownfield site, will any of the youth who attended this club ever live there?
Demolishing a building alters the feel of the street, the view from Mount Pleasant is unsettling, as it reveals features of buildings that we are unfamiliar with. Our complacency is shaken. It must be spring...
Nice shot with all the dust - I know what you mean about not building though - the lovely Victorian school (that was) down the road is still a scrubby patch of grass.
@aitch As it is a brownfield site I think that it will be very easy to obtain planning permission, and as the old building was 3 stories, then I anticipate the new ones will be also. @jolie37@shellinvalpo@judithg@minxymissk@cjwhite It was nothing significant architectually, just a building that escaped the wholesale redevelopment of the town centre in the 60's & early 70's.
