Today we went to Burford Garden Centre, near Tenbury Wells.
It is the home to an extensive Clematis Garden, but as you had to pay to go in, and it was not the season for Clematis, we decided that we would save that section for another day. The garden area in view is free. There is also a small play area for children, but as it was cold and had been very wet the day before we did not investigate on this occasion!
The Reclamation Shop was very interesting, I was seriously tempted by some candle sconces, but the thought of never being able to light them without worrying about setting fire to the house, and the thought of constantly crooked candles put me off. Though I was informed that I didn't need any more candles! Is it possible to have too many candles? I think not ;)
I took this shot as we were leaving. I love this time of day. When the sun has set but night has yet to come, and silhouettes are all around us.
Food
I had a hot turkey and stuffing roll with side garnish.
My driver had a sweet potato & Rosemary soup. Both items cost £5.
We also had had a lattee and a black tea.
Verdict. The soup apparently could have been hotter. Perhaps they were worried about being sued, but the tea was hot enough!!
The teapot looked impressive, (green stoneware) but, as is often the case, proved impossible to pour from without a mighty flood! Hot water was available for the tea on request.
The latte was slightly on the weak side, but very pleasant.
Later we sampled the cakes, which were fine. No great surprises, but not horribly dry either.
I agree..One can never have too many candles.
Wot no jacket spuds???
And I fancied the sweet potato and rosemary soup for a change.
