In The Bleak Mid-winter

Today was cold, bitterly cold. A few flakes of snow, like tiny grains of frozen rice, lay on the ground and on top of walls.
They were fitting the new door in the Vestry today, a beautiful bespoke oak door (complete with gothic hinges), so i had company all morning.
I walked home, along grey streets, neath grey skies, wondering what on earth I could take a picture of, when my eye was caught by the small branches of the tree and the beautiful pattern they made. Not neat and tidy, but random and interesting.
Yes, today is cold and grey, but the sun will shine, spring will come. The sap will rise, buds will shoot and seedling will appear. It was after days such as today that the seed that produced this tree germinated. Cold, grey days contrast with warm blue ones. There is beauty in both if we take time to look.
Lovely pic and words!
